Terengganu Lening

Terengganu...the land of beauty! What comes to mind at the mere mentioned of Terengganu is holiday!!!! Beaches, of course!

However, that is not the case for me whenever I visit Terengganu. The visits are always work related. Never had the time for actual visit of historical or interesting places. Terengganu is known for its Pasar Payang, Pulau Redang, Pulau Perhentian, Pulau Kapas, Tasik kenyir etc..That is just naming a few.

The government of Terengganu has done its level best to modernise the State as well as Kuala Terengganu. Kuala Terengganu has recently been upgraded its status to "City Status". To be more apt, it is known as Bandaraya Warisan Pesisir Air.

Just imagine, there was not a single Mc Donald's in KT, now, there is one! The only Mc D you can find for last 10 years was in Kemaman. Credo to Petronas!

In addition to providing the basic infrastructure towards modernisation and increasing the standard level of living, the State of Terengganu has also become the 1st state to take action in developing the human capital of the State. A state that has future in mind.

Primarily, the state is looking at eliminating its position ie having the highest number of people below the poverty level. Note, people who are below level are mostly Malays and Muslims. Hence, by developing human capital is the 1st step to many things. One of the programs that was developed is efarm. Where it comprises programs like M2Farm, Jasper, Anim@ter, SPIKE and D3D. The State envisages that these programs will assist in producing future Technopreneurs for the State. Eventually, bringing the State to the next level via Innovation and Entrepreneurship; and concurrently, eliminating unemployment. All of these, resulting the State as an ICT-centric state and making it one of the ICT hubs of the world.

I hope Terengganu will achieve its noble aspiration and we pray that it does. Big picture - it is for the benefit of the Ummah.

Land of the Mummies

Egypt - the land of the mummies..What was more shocking was the barreness of the place and the lack of infrastructure to guard the ONLYstanding Ancient Wonder of the World!
The lackadaisal attitude of the Arabs astounds me. Then again, I can understand of what is more important to them in life. There are approximately 10 million who works in Cairo. 90% stays out of town from Cairo. Some as far as Hurghada (it is a town near the Red Sea). Near to Sharm al Sheikh, that is, famous for scuba diving etc. Basically, a holiday town. People comes into Cairo in throes via buses, trains, car and etc.
Traffic jam is a common thing. I can safely say it is better in Kuala Lumpur...traffic jam in KL can be considered a 'bliss'...Houses are built 'upwards' in Cairo. The lack of land for housing had resulted to the 'upwards' solution. Most of these houses are built on bricks without proper plastering and paint and most, were an eyesore to Cairo's skyline. At the same time, the skyline of Cairo is adorned with 1000 over minarets.
The same minarets calling the faithful to perform their duties towards the Creator.
The experience I had in Egypt opened my eyes. I am blessed to be in Malaysia. You will never know how much you are blessed until you experience and observe the suffering of others being on a personal, professional, environmental or even country level.
Then again, Cairo and Alexandria were wonderful!!! I love to go there again. Insyallah!!!

the callousness of time management

i have been doing a lot of thinking for some time. How I sometimes disregard and has a callous attitude towards respecting time.

Time for family, time for friends and even worse, time for myself!!! My mum has been in the hospital for the past 3 weeks. As a dutiful daughter, I have made a point to visit her on a weekly basis. Though I have been wanting to make a point to spend more time with her, but I can't. Not that I cannot stand the hospital, but the endless nagging.

My mum, in her pain, can still do what God has made her to do. Not that I care much, I need a break from all that nagging!! I am a mother of two and I sometimes wonder, if I do the same to my children??? May be I do and may be I don't. Then again, who am I to judge??

hmmm...back to the real reason why i wrote this posting. It is all about time! I have not made time for friends who are always there when I am in need. A friend that is extremely sick. She has been admitted into hospital for the last 2 months and I did not make an effort to go and see her. I am so ashamed of myself.

Now, she is back home. And, I still have not make the effort!! I am making an excuse of her not able to see me due to fear of getting an infection. She just gone through a stem cell transplant. The contact with outside people might lead to her getting an infection and slowing down her progress to recovery.

So..sometimes, I do not know what to do with myself. Aida, buck up!!! There is more to world than work and your own family. We live in a community...and need to learn to appreciate and be thoughtful of others more...
